So much packed into our latest issue! You’ll see that we’re celebrating many moments of marvelous magic. First up is Professor Hoffmann’s Modern Magic. This groundbreaking magic book was first released 150 years ago. It was a brilliant and new approach to sharing information and totally changed how we learn magic. Genii’s executive editor Will Houstoun—who not only studied this book closely but also featured this very topic for his doctoral thesis—tells us what makes this book so special and how it shaped the modern era of magic.

Next up, Geoff Grimes tells us about one of magic’s hidden gems: Norman Beck. From managing million-dollar bets, to rolling the odds himself and beating back a brain tumor, Norman has lived an extraordinary life. Steve Forte also shares insight about his buddy “Storman Norman.” As Forte says, “Norman always knows exactly what he is doing.”
Magic editor Benjamin Barnes is back this month, offering a global menu of magic. Starting off with Magicana, we are treated to a unique and surprising card routine by Dominique Duvivier; a modern take of the classic Coins to Glass by Luis Carreon; an illuminating mindreading routine by Radek Hoffman, who also tips a lovely touch to amplify the ending; and a delightful mindreading routine using a Rubik’s Cube by Patrick Kurota.
Roberto Mansilla is also back, giving us an analog approach to a great feat of mentalism: predicting the sum of a series of freely selected numbers. Neil Tobin stops by to share a brilliant Brainwave routine inspired by Clayton Rawson’s fictional character The Great Merlini. And rounding out the magic, Blake Vogt welcomes the delightful and charming Jeki Yoo as his guest on Inventing Magic. The pair come up with a super fun pop-up routine—one you will be enchanted by and, perhaps, inspired to try!
So, yes, tons to unpack! You can see the Latest Issue of this month’s collection of stories. Or, if you are a Genii magazine subscriber, login to read the digital version of the print issue.
