Hello, friends. This is my inaugural issue as a magic editor for Genii magazine! As you can tell, I am excited to take on this new role.
At the beginning of my magic journey I had very limited access to magic and magicians. My local library was where I found the books that taught me about the art’s storied history, but magic clubs, shops, and venues seemed woefully beyond my reach.
And then, one day, a friend of mine handed me his copy of Genii and my life changed forever. No longer did I feel isolated from the contemporary world of magic, because the magazine brought it to me. It was in the pages of Genii that I first learned the names Tom Mullica, Haruo Shimada, Suzanne, Juliana Chen, and so many others.
Years later, to work alongside the Genii team, in service of all of you, is truly a full-circle moment. Special thanks to Julie Eng and Will Houstoun for their belief in me. Thank you, magic.
