Philipp Tawfik’s handling of the Card on Ceiling is both simple and ingenious.
Unlike many traditional methods, there is no need to attach the wax ball to the thumb or secretly transfer it during the routine. Instead, the wax is openly attached to the center of the deck in full view of the audience. The CoC-Box was first published in German in 2002 in Philipp’s lecture notes Close-Up Up-Close, but has not been shared in English.
Effect
A card is selected, signed, and returned to the deck. The performer introduces a small box containing rubber bands and removes one of them. The deck is secured with a rubber band, and the cards are tossed toward the ceiling. Upon impact, the entire deck falls back to the floor—except for the signed selection, which remains attached to the ceiling.
