A magnolia tree on Remsen Street has started to bloom but a cold wind still cuts down Atlantic Avenue. Shimpei Katsuragawa is nearing his final bow after a triumphant run at 69 Atlantic in Brooklyn. I’m dreading the inevitable—having to say goodbye to my new friend before he travels back home to Nagoya, Japan.

Here is Shimpei presenting his beautiful routine set to Franz Liszt’s piano arrangement of Paganini’s “La Campanella.”
