On this day in 1908 Stewart James was born. James was a prolific inventor (as anyone who has enjoyed the 1,700-odd pages of The James File can attest), whose unusual creative process involved the guidance of Rigonally, Faxton, and Khardovam, three imaginary friends who James referred to as the Three Men Who Never Were. Stewart James is not the same person as James Stewart, who was born in the same year just six days later.
