‘Exposing Houdini: 52 Lost Glass Plate Negatives’ by Charles Greene III

This is the fourth Houdini book I’ve reviewed this year, and I think that’s less than half of the new titles coming out. Naturally, the centennial of Harry’s death is a fitting time to reflect on his legacy, though I’d be hard pressed to name a single 10-minute span since 1926 when the magic community did not reflect on that legacy. Bess kept the flame going for the first decade, Genii put the handcuff king on its cover every October for years afterward, and the biographers—Kellock, Gibson, Gresham, Christopher, Henning, Brandon, Silverman, Bell, Kalush and Sloman, Cox, Gillespie, and more—have each added to the legend.
