Effect
The magician shuffles a deck of cards, removes the top card, and hands it face down to a spectator. The spectator is invited to insert this card anywhere they wish into the deck, leaving it protruding slightly.
The magician then spreads the cards to the insertion point and raises them so that their faces are now visible. The magician asks the spectator to remember the card immediately next to the protruding card. Once the spectator has committed the card to memory, the deck is squared and handed to them.
The spectator is then instructed to locate the card they just saw. After searching through the deck, they discover their card is nowhere to be found. It has vanished from the deck.
To conclude the effect, the missing card reappears in an impossible location of the magician’s choosing.
