In the February 1970 issue of Genii, Bill Larsen talked about a 22-year-old performer who, along with his assistant Mars, had recently appeared at The Magic Castle. Bill explained that this young man “plans to become a professional after his graduation from McMaster University,” and recommended that readers keep an “eye on this lad for great things in years to come.” Those that did would be well rewarded, as the performer was none other than Doug Henning. (Why does this February item appear under a March date? Well, in the Genii Speaks column for the issue Bill explains that the issue went to press on March 9.)
