“Magic should be, and is, life. Love for life, passion for life, despite everything and against everything.”
—Juan Tamariz, The Magic Rainbow (2019)
Given both the breadth and depth of his work, it is not possible to fully celebrate and remember Juan Tamariz’s contributions to magic. Instead of attempting the impossible (how disappointing), we instead took inspiration from his beloved rainbow, asking a number of his friends, collaborators, and admirers to each write a short piece about an aspect of his work. We hope that, as you read about some of his many different shades and colors, they will occasionally combine to give you a glimpse of his iridescent whole.
