Jason Isaacs, the actor who played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films (and also starred in The White Lotus and many other movies and TV shows you’ve likely watched) is an amateur magician and not afraid to do a few tricks during a press junket.
He did just that (a Snap Change and a Cards Across routine respectively) during his recent promotional tour for the upcoming film, The Julia Set, a coming-of-age drama also starring Gillian Anderson and Chase Infiniti. The Hollywood Reporter has an Instagram reel showcasing Isaacs’ aforementioned skills, and it turns out that this is far from the first time he has performed prestidigitation for promotion.
Isaacs has done this so many times, in fact, that I’m frankly embarrassed this is the first time he’s come across my radar. He’s been doing magic since at least 2019, including an Invisible Deck routine for the Table Manners podcast in 2025. This June, at a red-carpet event, he revealed he had multiple decks of cards on his person, confirming that his interest in magic is not a passing phase.
