In my June 2026 column, I shared some ideas around the HyperCard fold. I get a little obsessed with an idea, and like a miner, I follow the various seams as they take me deep down into a subject.
This month I’ll be presenting some discoveries that I’ve dug out concerning the Trapdoor Card fold invented by Robert E. Neale. It was first published in 1983 by Karl Fulves and has had many variations over the years. Neale’s This is not a book includes a few ideas, and more recently, Ben Harris’ Machinations was devoted to the topic and featured full-color printouts to make your own tricks.
