The Magic Circle award ceremony took place in London this October, and several magicians of note were recognized.
One of them was Juan Tamariz, who received the Devant Award for his contributions to international magic. “Juan is celebrated as one of the greatest living close-up magicians, having created some of the most impactful material over many decades,” Marvin Berglas, the president of The Magic Circle, said. “His extraordinary blend of humor and magic makes him unique. He is not only a household name in his native Spain but a beloved hero and cherished icon to magicians throughout the world.”

Another was the duo Penn & Teller, who accepted the David Berglas Award for originality, creativity and showmanship. The honor comes on the heels of the duo becoming members in The Inner Magic Circle in September, when they were in the U.K. for a run at The London Palladium.
Genii columnist Matt Pritchard was also recognized, receiving the Chapender Award for contributions using magic beyond entertainment. “Matt uniquely blends science and performance to spark curiosity and explore the intersection of magic and science,” said Berglas. “He educates and encourages people to ask the big questions.”

The other awardees were Duncan Trillo, who received the Maskelyne Award for his dedication to British magic; Wayne Dobson, who posthumously earned the Carlton Award for contributions to comedy magic; and Fergus Roy for the Eddie Dawes Award, which honors services to magic literature. Rodney James Piper, Katherine Rhodes, and Charlie Burgess received Silver Wands for their service to The Circle, with Burgess, Laura London, and Stuart Scott receiving the Cecil Lyle Award for the best contribution to The Magic Circular.
Congratulations to all those recognized!
