So much has been written about Larry Jennings that it’s hard to find something new to say. Next to Derek Dingle, he was the finest card worker I’ve ever seen. He did everything remarkably well, palmed cards better than anyone, and could easily perform 50 tricks without stopping.
While Dingle worked instinctively, Jennings was a genuine student of the craft. He read every magic book and magazine he could find and deeply studied the methods and reasoning behind each trick. He was Dai Vernon’s most prominent student, and also great friends with Charlie Miller, Ron Wilson, and Tony Giorgio.
They all gathered around Vernon at The Magic Castle shortly after he made his home there in 1963. Larry’s first published trick was Tell-Tale Aces in Dai Vernon’s Ultimate Secrets of Card Magic in 1967. Jennings was a titan of card magic, constantly creating new plots and handlings.
