In 1926, this was the first day of the International Brotherhood of Magicians convention held in Kenton, Ohio, where the convention organizer and IBM leading figure W.W. Durbin lived. The event was notable as the first English-speaking magic convention (the first ever was an event in the previous year organized by the German Magischer Zirke). Over 150 magicians attended the first IBM convention, with registrations doubling for the next year’s event and a foundation laid for the get together that continues to this day.
