Abracadabra was a weekly magic magazine, published in the U.K. between 1946 and 2009 for a remarkable run of 3,296 issues. Over the course of those six-plus decades there were no doubt a number of peculiar coincidences. One of the most pleasing, for history nerds, took place with the edition published on July 2, 1966, with issue number 1066 coming off the press on the anniversary of the Battle of Hasting (which famously took place in 1066). Was this a cleverly planned moment, set up by Goodliffe 20 years earlier, or mere coincidence? I will let Genii readers decide.
