Forbes recently published an interview with Jamie Allan that showcased his New York City show, Amaze. The article discusses, among other things, how Amaze is in a relatively small 199-seat theater, something that Allen said he appreciates. “I have done huge venues, massive illusions, and it’s a real buzz,” Allan told Forbes. “But there is something magical about being so close you can see the whites of people’s eyes as the impossible happens just inches from them.”

The interview is a fun one—in addition to digging into Allan’s thoughts about magic you also find out that if he wasn’t a magician, he’d want to be the lead in The Phantom of the Opera

Allan also shares what Amaze is all about: “Amaze is a story of chance, of dreams. It’s the story of a boy who grew up fascinated by magic, illusion, technology, and the idea that anything is possible. It’s about that first spark of wonder you feel as a kid that lights a fire deep inside of you. It’s a love letter to magic, and a thank you to everyone who ever believed in me enough to let me chase the dream.”

Amaze is running at least through the middle of February 2026 at New World Stages / Stage 5 in New York City.
