A Day in the Life of a Traveling Illusion Show

Why isn’t this titled “A Day in the Life of an Illusionist?” Because the performance of an illusion show is not possible through the sole efforts of the illusionist alone. The illusionist can theorize, plan, plot, dream, sketch, write, edit, build, and block, but without partners or assistants, there is no show.

The manipulator, card mechanic, mentalist, or comedy magician can opt to go it alone; but illusion shows, like theater, are a collaborative effort. The U.S. Navy SEALs are among the most respected special operations units today. Within their ranks they refer to themselves as “team guys.” Even people as exceptionally motivated and capable as them recognize that some goals require a team.
