This routine was inspired by Roy Walton’s Moonshine, which appeared in the February 1991 issue of Genii magazine.
A card is chosen, using either a selection or a peek. The pack is shuffled and the performer removes five cards, any of which, they say, could be the chosen card. After some deliberation, one card is placed aside face down. “None of these could be it.” One at a time, the other four cards are shown to be the selection, say, the Four of Spades. The four cards are placed aside and the single tabled card is shown to be the Four of Spades. “Some people think these four cards are all the same… and they are.” The four cards are turned over, revealing the four queens. Only five cards are used and the deck can be borrowed.
