Cold Reading is often viewed as a holy grail for mentalists. Most performers recognize the limitation that obtaining information from an audience relies either on forcing that information, or getting the spectator to write it down and then secretly reading what was written. So of course, the possibility of obtaining information without doing either has tremendous appeal.
