Jason Bishop’s touring illusion show often earns compliments for the magician’s wry humor and his modern, “un-theatrical” style onstage. No one’s accused him of devoting himself to the classics, but his floating sphere mystery is classically mysterious. From a cardboard packing box, he manifests the white-hot, glowing, roiling ball of fog, which floats in sharply delineated paths, leaving beautiful trails of glowing mist. It’s an image that inspires wonder. The audience invariably watches in reverent silence.
