The Thayer Magic Manufacturing company was sold by William Larsen Sr. to Rudy Roxo (the stage name of Clayton Jacobsen). The purchase earned Roxo the cover of Genii magazine. Employed part-time at an auto manufacturing plant, Roxo built his own props, developed a number of original effects, and toured with his own magic show. He contributed distinctive tricks to Genii magazine over the years. Roxo worked at Thayer, then made a deal with Larsen, purchasing the stock and rights to the tricks and moving the business to his home in Traverse City, Michigan, where it promptly failed before he could issue a catalog.
